So today I find myself again at the Finland Design Museum in Helsinki and I was reminded of something strange I found in the temporary exhibition. Google Material Design. Yes, a design system in a museum!

Google Material Design at the Finnish Design Museum in Helsinki, Finland
I am about to head up to revisit some of my favorites, so I have themed this email with Google Material design. I have linked to the exhibition and some key bits of text that explain why Material is so fantastic on so many levels. I am not advocating you just use Google Material for everything you design, but as a system it is beautiful, function, and very well thought out.
Also, a lot of people asked me, “Is cold in Finland”. Read to the end to find out.

Postscript
P.S. Okay, I have to admit. It is getting quite cold in Finland. And I am living in what people here call the “Tropics.” Today it is -19c and -30c with the windchill!

Earlier the prediction was for a high of -16c and a low of -22c for tomorrow. I used to tell people that anything under zero (celsius) was about the same. But I am correcting myself, under -10c is very, very cold, uncomfortable, and perhaps even painful.
Today I can feel piercing cold through my wool gloves. My tears are perhaps freezing. I certainly have frost developing in my beard. It is difficult to breath through your nose without covering it with a scarf.
What about you? Does it get this cold where you live or have you traveled to Finland before? Hit reply and let me know.
